Draft Housing Element released for public review

Over the past year, the Menlo Park community and stakeholders from across the region have participated in extensive outreach and engagement efforts for the Housing Element Update and it is with excitement that the City of Menlo Park released the draft 2023-2031 Housing Element May 11, 2022.

This release of the draft Housing Element begins a 30-day public comment period in preparation for transmittal to the California Department of Housing and Community Development for their required initial review. The final Housing Element is anticipated to be reviewed by the City Council at the end of 2022.

A paper copy is also available for public review in the Menlo Park Library at 800 Alma St. and at the Belle Haven Branch Library at 413 Ivy Drive. We invite you to review the draft Housing Element and to provide feedback before the end of the public review period Friday, June 10, 2022.

Throughout the Housing Element Update process, the City seeks input through a variety of engagement opportunities to learn from the community about what matters to you.

All jurisdictions in the Bay Area must update their Housing Element for the 2023-2031 planning period.

The Housing Element is an opportunity to have a community conversation about how to address local housing challenges and find solutions. The Housing Element includes goals, policies and programs that direct decision-making around housing for current and future residents of Menlo Park.
