Healthy Brain, Vibrant Life!

Did you know that our brains do not stop growing after our early twenties? It has been discovered that given the proper environment and following the recommended diet and lifestyle, you can keep growing new brain cells for your entire life. Growing new brain cells = neurogenesis. Why should you care? Higher rates of neurogenesis are associated with elevated immunity, higher cognitive function, emotional vitality and resilience, protection from stress, anxiety and depression, better memory, faster learning and enhanced overall brain function. In this class we will discuss the top four foods to include for growing new brain cells as well as dive deeper into other diet and lifestyle tips. Followed by a food demo of spiced cauliflower soup. Argentine Tango for Beginners

(Ages 18+)
You will learn the fundamentals of Argentine tango in this class. The basics of “lead” and “follow,” the tango walk, the tango basic step, ochos and molinete are among some of the materials you will learn. In tango, it is more important “how” you do something as opposed to “what” you do and, as such, much emphasis is placed on technique and fundamentals so that you build a solid foundation with stability and elegance. In each class, we first spend about 10 minutes on warmup and exercises specific to tango to help with balance and stability. Argentine tango is an intimate dance and you will be practicing/dancing in close contact with another person. Although for class participation, no partners are required and we generally rotate partners, you are encouraged to bring along a dance partner so that we end up with a balanced number of leaders and followers. No prior dance experience is required. Masks are required for the entire duration of the class with the nose covered unless advised differently with current regulations.

Birth: The Baby Perspective

(Ages 18+)

This class focuses on the time surrounding delivery, which is busy for the parents and the baby!  What are the normal behaviors of a newborn immediately after birth, and why do they do those things?  What does the baby need from the mother after the baby is born?  How can the father contribute?  How can a family prepare for the whirlwind of giving birth based on the needs of the baby?  All of these questions, and more will be presented in an interactive and positive two-hour presentation with plenty of time for questions and discussion. Seating will be widely spaced and masks are required.
